The Night Shift: Insects at Night!
Ever wonder what creatures are ‘working the night shift’ at Twelve Oaks – we are ready to find out?! Come join us in our new space for this SUPER exciting event with Naturalist Mark LaSalle! He will talk to us about what goes on in nature when the sun goes down…
We will hang a “mothing” light sheet and provide some sugaring to help attract the moths! We’ll spotlight for spiders! And even inspect tree trunks to study the movers and shakers of the night! We’ll be photographing our winged visitors and logging our finds into iNaturalist – a super cool digital community for naturalists. There will also be a Luna Moth-themed art project for kids led by art instructor Carmen Lugo!
What fun-filled and educational evening for kiddos (and parents!) Bring the whole family! We will provide additional handouts including information on what all was discussed through the evening, moth anatomy, pollinators and decomposers – we’ll discuss it all – and you will leave with a wealth of ‘bug’ knowledge!
You don’t want to miss our FIRST event at our new home! Cost is $5 per person for familes that are members / $10 per person for families that are non-members.
Friday, September 18th from 7PM-9PM
Bring your flashlights!
Spots are LIMITED and social distancing efforts will be in full force even outdoors – masks are recommended, but not required. Masks ARE however required INDOORS – so please bring them along!
