Transformation Theatre

This exciting workshop is a continuation of our recent Gold Scout Project Transformation Theatre. This will be a six week long class resulting in a dramatic production that will help girls ages 11 - 14 identify and cope with issues of self-esteem, fear, and insecurities. Objectives of this class are to: encourage the students to talk openly about aspects of body confidence, challenge female stereotypes, examine how feelings can affect actions, discover how beauty is portrayed by the media, teach positive body image, learn about beauty in other cultures, practice understanding emotions, develop techniques to promote positive self-esteem, build a positive relationship with beauty, and to achieve (explore) the student's full life potential.

Final Show Synopsis: Five young ladies explore the issues of women's rights throughout the last sixty years. Transformation Theatre travels through the 1950's to modern 200's in five different scenes taking the audience on a journey through the issues of the day. The ladies show us how over time the world has changed, but these problems are relevant to today's time. Just as the actresses in the show will learn positive behavior to counter their own issues, the characters from each decade learn how to overcome.

Cosplay

Cosplay is another word for Costume Play. Cosplayers wear costume's and impersonate character from TV shows, books or anything else. Usually when you Cosplay it's referred to being a mainly Japanese fad but it can be much more than anime or manga. Cosplay is not merely costuming, but a very unique form of performance art, it uses theatre by acting and staying in character. It also requires many to get creative and make their own costume! Many people see cosplay as being a short escape from who you really are by impersonating someone else. Some see it as a hobby, by creating props and costumes to wow crowds who share a common interest in whatever you may be cosplaying from. This is a start of a new Cosplay group. Come for 2 sessions to check out what Cosplay is (for free), and then sign up for a 6 month membership, if you decide that Cosplay is for you!
